Official "WoWScreenshotADay" badge. Use with discretion.

Ok, I have slaved over a hot computer (read: I have struggled with GIMP's alpha channel settings) to make an official #WoWScreenshotADay badge for your blog.

Obviously, you should only use this if you participate.

So, good reason to participate: You get to use my cool logo!

THE COMMUNITY’S TOP ** BEST THINGS TO DO IN WARCRAFT BEFORE WoD RELEASES

There has been a call for help in the WoW community at http://mrandmrswow.wordpress.com/2014/08/16/a-community-project-i-need-your-help/

"All you need to do is blog (and link) or tweet or DM me your choices and I will compile them into a list which I hope will look like this:

  • SUGGESTION – link to whose idea it was, a longer description/wowhead info if necessary etc

very short blurb describing the basics of the suggestion (time, place, faction etc)
Whether it’s one suggestion, or five, I don’t think it matters. What matters is the passion and the enthusiasm. No moaning allowed!"

My suggestions are:

Get your legendries: This one has been haunting me for ages, not just because I haven’t gotten my legendary cloak yet on my main, but because I have 10 out of 15 Embers for Dragonwrath (my legendary caster staff) and can never find anyone to run Firelands with me. When everyone is able to solo Firelands in WoD, the caster staff will not be as impressive to get and I foresee many appearances of the ghostly dragon over Orgrimmar and Stormwind.
I’m desperate to be the one who gets the L’il Tarecgosa for my guild too: so I shall be grinding this as much as possible before WoD. (Help on U.S. Servers always appreciated!!)

Level Archaeology: I have max level archaeology on my main and found the early levels a long tedious grind. But once you get to Pandaria you can use trinkets and the much smaller map to get both lots of achievements and solve all those cool early area archaeology items like the raptor mount (Fossil) or the clockwork gnome pet (Dwarven). Just head to the Dwarf in the Seat of Knowledge and exchange your crated Pandaria artefacts for the type you want. This can be a great way to stumble actoss some side quests too if you have your “Low level quest” markers on and are looking for your zone achievements. Also, you can use this to stock up on fossil fragments to gain Darkmoon faire reputation.

Learn the Mogu recipes for 300+ stats: Been to the Vale of Eternal Blossoms since Garrosh wrecked it? There are many more mogu there now: most carry lots of gold and windwool cloth, as well as sometimes having ingredients or mogu cache keys. The cache keys can be used in the ruins near what used to be Whitepetal lake. Run down the steps, kill a few mogu, dodge a rather nasty floor, and you reach a blue dragon. I assume this dragon is part of a quest, but as a destro lock I can easily solo him, or dodge him (he drops nothing of interest). Behind the dragon are respawning caches, and each one gives you gold, reputation gain tokens for the golden lotus which are “bind to account” and a recipe. The recipes are not learned anywhere else in game, and require ingredients dropped by mogu or harvested from the valley. Some of the ingredients only last an hour, but once made the food lasts permanently, and it is much easier to make than the deluxe food cart which gives the same buff.

PvP: in MoP the IL of your gear reflects resilience more than having any special gear. So if you haven’t PvPed because everyone has better gear than you it’s time to change that. The gear that heroic Garrosh drops will quite easily beat a lot of conquest stuff. So it might be time to join a Battleground and see how you go ganging up on the other side.

Shameless plug

#WoWscreenshotaday Day 2: Favourite

I woke this morning to some good news and some bad news.

The good news is, so far I have 6 participants this month! \o/

They are (in no particular order):

http://rinike.com/
http://harpysnest.wordpress.com/
http://wowsugar.blogspot.com.au/
http://plentyofpaladins.blogspot.com.au/
http://dreaddnught.blogspot.co.uk/
and @Ghostangel who will be participating solely on twitter.

So some "regulars", some returning after a break, and some for the first time.

Welcome all!

If you are participating, but NOT on the list, please let me know via the comments below.

If you haven't started yet DON'T WORRY! I work a few days behind, and will always welcome new shots. :D

Oh yeah, and the bad news is: I missed number 10 on my original picture.

So, to correct it, I spent hours making this new seamless graphic.

See, you can barely tell where I slotted it in. :D

Good luck all! First screenshots are already coming in!

Elder Tycer

That was a loooooooong achievement!

But, I now have the title "Elder", and am another step closer to my World event mount. :D

This took me about 8 hours from beginning to end to do just the Elders. (Granted I probably did it less efficiently than I could have; I did the world ones, then the dungeon ones.)
p.s. The [Elders of the Dungeons] ones are a pain in the butt!

And at the end my toon had 82 Coins of Ancestry; and since I'd bought the two tailoring patterns last year I had to work out what to buy.
So I went clothes shopping.

The clothes are useless: You can't transmog to them. But they are pretty.

So here is my FemGob modelling the full range of Lunar Festival Clothing accompanied by her new Lunar Lantern!

Sexy, no??

Yeah, actually, that was a bit of a let down: being too short to get a second Lunar Lantern. But at least I've lost 6 slots in my bank too!

#WoWscreenshotaday February 2014!

If you are reading this, you may be considering participating in this month's #WoWscreenshotaday.

If so, welcome! You've chosen a good month, the shortest one of the year...less of a commitment!

What does it mean to participate???

Well:

  1. You need to tell me you're participating, either via a comment below (including a link to the blog or website you'll be posting the screenshots on) or via @Tycertank on twitter.
  2. Log into World of Warcraft everyday and take a screenshot based on that day's prompt (see image below)
  3. Edit or crop picture as you see fit.
  4. There is no step 4!
I shall start posting the screenshots on this blog again; so check back every couple of days to see what people have posted. I shall, if there are enough participants, also make some more videos for YouTube!

Oh! and when I know you're participating I will plug your website/blog on this blog as well!

Free publicity!

Here are February's prompts.
